Ongoing and Recurring Needs

Picture
There are currently 70 children in the Haven and Fresh Start homes, yet the homes could easily accommodate 30 more kids if the resources were provided to meet the operating expenses for the additional children.  Child sponsorship and general giving to support the Haven and Fresh Start homes is always needed.  Child sponsorship gives you, the donor, the opportunity to connect with a particular child to whom you may send cards and letters and receive a letter in return.  For a child to know that he has a sponsor is incredibly encouraging to him.  Prayers for your child are greatly appreciated, and you can be assured your sponsored child is praying for you as well.  You may also send a small gift with teams that go to visit.  In fact, you can plan to go on a trip to visit the homes yourself. Please understand that your sponsorship support is not earmarked to be spent on one child's needs specifically, but rather goes toward the support of all the children in the home.  Can you imagine how devastating it would be to an unsponsored child to see his siblings fed and clothed while he goes without?

The homes could not operate without generous gifts given in general for the operation of the Haven and Fresh Start homes.  These general gifts fill in the gaps to meet the shortfall of sponsorships towards the operating budget of the homes.  Also, general gifts cover the unexpected needs such as medical expenses due to sports injuries.

Other ongoing and recurring needs include, but are not limited to:
  • High school fees (boarding school tuition, transportation, school books, uniforms, and supplies)
  • Tutoring expenses (support for a live-in tutor and study books)
  • Back-to-school expenses for elementary and preschool students (back packs, uniforms, and supplies)
  • Maintenance and fuel for the homes' SUV which is used for bulk shopping and transportation of children in medical/emergency situations
  • Support of several students who no longer live in either of the homes (school fees, vocational training, etc.)
